File retention & deletion

Effective October 13, 2026

Download your result promptly and keep your original PDF. BeaglePDF temporarily processes documents; it is not a permanent file-storage service.

How long can I download my result?

Pro history and Developer API downloads currently use a 24-hour availability window measured from job creation. Individual signed download links normally expire after 15 minutes. While the job is still eligible, Pro history or the API can provide a new link. Free-tool users should download their result as soon as compression finishes.

When are uploaded and compressed files deleted?

Temporary source and output PDFs are covered by a one-day cloud-storage expiration rule measured separately from each object’s creation. Eligibility is rounded to a daily cleanup boundary and actual deletion runs asynchronously. Files can therefore remain beyond 24 hours; we do not promise deletion at exactly 12 or 24 hours. An expired download link is not proof that all stored copies have already been erased.

Workers attempt to remove their local PDF working files when processing ends, including failures. Unexpected interruptions may delay that cleanup. Files you host at a source URL remain under your control: BeaglePDF cannot delete the original from your website or storage account.

What about job history, logs, and backups?

The file cleanup rule applies to temporary PDFs, not database records. Job tags, filenames, sizes, source/callback URLs, API user data, request logs, and support tickets may remain after document cleanup. Account and operational records currently have no fixed automatic deletion schedule. Database backups rotate separately and can retain records temporarily after a live deletion. See our Privacy Policy.

Can I request deletion?

Yes. Use Support with the subject “Deletion request” and include your job tag, approximate submission time, and account email if applicable. Do not include the PDF, API key, or signed download URL. We will review the request and may ask you to verify ownership. Deletion requests are handled manually; immediate deletion is not guaranteed. Records required for security or legal obligations may need to be retained.

What happens after expiry?

Expired or deleted files may no longer be downloadable or recoverable. Submit your original PDF again if you need another compression. Website examples and intentionally published test PDFs are separate from customer processing files and may remain online until removed manually.
